Where They Started

This property was installed in stages over three years, with EdenScapes taking over maintenance on each section as it was completed. The final phase wrapped up at the end of 2019. The property includes a swimming pool and outdoor cabana (installed by another company), an extensive system of retaining walls, pavers, antique brick, and bluestone, dense layered planting beds, and a roughly 250-foot dry creek bed built from boulders and river rock that carries neighborhood drainage down to the river. Because the property sits along the river, drainage and washout have always been a real, ongoing consideration — not a one-time problem to solve and move past.

What Years of Ongoing Care Have Actually Looked Like

Maintenance here was always going to require a light touch. The owner wanted the property to feel private and secluded — closer to a wooded habitat than a manicured yard — which meant our crews couldn’t get carried away with trimming just because a plant technically needed it. For the first few years, our account managers walked the property seasonally with the original landscape architect, so seasonal change-outs stayed true to the property’s original design intent instead of drifting from it over time.

As our account managers have continued visiting the property regularly since, that oversight has paid off in specific ways: flagging areas that needed attention or updating before they became visible problems, recommending plant replacements after hard freezes, and catching soil or water issues early enough to bring the client real options instead of a done deal. Because the property is on our bundled maintenance package, weeding, seasonal color changeouts, and mulching have always happened on the right schedule rather than whenever a crew got around to it. When plants showed stress tied to irrigation, the account manager and irrigation technician worked the problem together instead of guessing independently. The result is an estate that’s been fully managed with minimal input needed from the owner — he’s only looped in for the decisions that are actually his to make.

What’s Different Now

What’s striking about walking this property today is seeing the original design intent fully matured. The Southern Heritage plantings are full and lush. Flowering perennials carry color and interest across different seasons. The beds have room to breathe rather than feeling overplanted, and the whole property reads as private and secluded, with layered foliage and texture throughout. Seven years of consistent, coordinated care hasn’t just maintained the original installation — it’s let the property grow into something more beautiful and complete than it was on the day it was finished.

Why This Matters

Beyond the landscape itself, what’s been built here is a long-term relationship. If anything needs attention or the owner wants something changed, there’s one person to call, and he can trust the property will be handled. That’s the real goal behind a maintenance relationship like this one — not just paying for landscaping, but getting the benefit of a beautiful estate without it becoming one more thing to manage.
